An Air Con check is also included in a full air con service.

Air Con. Servicing

As part of the vehicle Air Con service options offered at G&B Accident Repair Centre, we will carry out a visual inspection of your air conditioning system and inform you when your vehicle is due a re-charge.

To avoid costly repairs and complete system failure, we recommend that the system is serviced and recharged at least every 2 years, this is also advised by most vehicle manufacturers.

What is Covered in Your Air Con Service?

  • Check system components such as hoses, belts, condenser, compressor, fans, electrics, etc
  • Check internal system controls, flaps, heating, etc
  • Recover any existing refrigerant from the system
  • Vacuum A/C system
  • Re-Gas (recharge) A/C system with refrigerant to vehicle specific levels
  • Add A/C oil and leak detection dye
  • Leak test components
  • Full post re-gas system test
  • Print out supplied for your records (this shows exactly what you are paying for)

Air Conditioning Cleaning

If there are bad odours coming from your air vents when you turn on your car AC, then your car may also benefit from an air con clean also known as a debug. We use a Sanitiser that is a powerful anti-bacterial cleaning agent, which when dispersed travels through your entire AC system cleaning and killing harmful bacteria. We will also change the Cabin Filter/Pollen Filter to give your vehicle that fresh odour and bacteria free feel again

Recharge at G&B Accident Repair Centre

The recharge process is quite simple and involves removing any old refrigerant gas and oil from your air con system before replacing this with the correct amount of new refrigerant, lubricant & Dye as per your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation. A vacuum test is also performed to ensure there are no cracks or damage in your vehicle air conditioning system that could cause the gas to leak out.

Within an hour the whole recharge process is completed, and you will once again have refreshing cool air on demand. Our trained technicians will show you the difference in your AC before and after recharge.

Vehicle air conditioners that are not recharged regularly will be less effective and must work harder to produce cool air. This puts more strain on the engine and uses more fuel. If your air conditioning system has not been recharged in the past two years, it will dramatically reduce efficiency.

Did you know?

Air conditioning does not just provide in-car comfort during the hot summer months; it can also be used in winter to demist your windscreen. Air con systems create dry warm air rather than the normal humid air from outside which can clear your windscreen much more quickly than your regular blowers, over time the system can lose gas or become contaminated.

In addition, filters gradually become blocked which can cause the system to fail completely. For this reason, air conditioning units should be regularly serviced in a similar manner to other vehicle parts.

This will result in:

  • Better fuel economy
  • Improved system efficiency
  • The removal of potentially harmful bacteria
  • Reducing screen de-misting times
  • Inhibiting the recirculation of dust and pollutant particles.

How Much Gas, Oil & Dye Are Used?

Each vehicle varies in amounts and is confirmed and checked with each manufacture’s specifications, although and average vehicle will use form 450g to 650g of gas and 100ml to 130ml of oil and 10ml to 20ml of leak detection dye.
